After taking all of the fun pictures with my bridesmaids, it was time for my dad and I to do our "first look!" As a daddy's girl, this was such a special moment for me and I'm so glad we could laugh and spend a few minutes together before the craziness of the rest of the day! I'm in love with how these pictures turned out and the sheer
joy and excitement of our exchange.
We wanted to keep the ceremony decor to a minimum to allow the natural beauty of the location to really shine
though. We added a few special touches with the peach runner with a gold monogram and coral and peach lace streamers hanging from the archway.
I have to say a huge thank you to my dad that covered our platform the day of to make it look more crisp
and clean! And another thank to my sister, Heather, who kept whispering to me
to not step back as I kept moving towards the edge of platform during the ceremony!
After my dad and I did our first look, I went inside to the “waiting
room” and sat anxiously awaiting my turn to walk down the aisle! There are even some pictures where you can see me peeking through the window as the wedding party
walked down the aisle.
As soon as the doors opened for
me to walk, the next 30 minutes became a huge blur. I remember being so incredibly
happy while trying my hardest not to ugly cry. I was so overwhelmed with so many emotions but all I remember is knowing that I am so blessed with the man God gave me.
I chose to walk down the aisle to “1,000 years” by Christina Perri because I knew it was a song Dakota would recognize and I didn’t
tell him what song I chose beforehand.
Dakota may look very concern watching me walked down the aisle but I promise, that’s his “I’m trying to be a tough man and not shed a tear” face ;).
Our ceremony was so special and
it meant the world to us to have Josh as our officiant. He made sure God was present and we could feel that presence during this time. He also made us laugh often which we are so thankful for because we were both SO nervous!
During the ceremony, Dakota and I
chose to take communion while the song “Oceans” by Hillsong played in the background.
This was a time for Dakota and I to humbly come before God and ask Him to bless
our marriage and covenant on that day. I'm so thankful that from that day forward, the Lord has blessed me with a strong and gentle leader in Dakota
We then exchanged our vows,
sealed it with a kiss, and danced our way down the aisle to “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors.
For décor, I wanted to go simple
and fun! The historic home we got married in was so naturally breathtaking that I wanted
all of our decorations to compliment that rather than take away from it. For
the cocktail hour, we had high top tables covered in peach linens with a gold,
glittered wine bottle with a single peony inside. We also had mini candle
holder with various gold patterns surrounding the wine bottles! We wanted our reception
to be very laid back and relaxed so we opted for an open floor plan with
seating inside and outside. We also didn’t do any formal seating or dinner plan
so guests could just grab a plate and mingle or sit wherever they wanted! This
decision was one I was unsure about but the day of, I loved it! I think our
guests really enjoyed being able to move around do as they pleased.
All of the decorations and
special touches were crafted by myself and some of my beautiful bridesmaids!! I
seriously can’t thank them enough for helping me!
I
absolutely love how everything came together for our wedding day and there
isn't a single I would change!
I'm
also SO excited about the final three weeks of the Wedding Wednesday series! I
love all of our pictures but I can promise that the best is yet to come :)
