Weekend Recap: Trip to NC

Hi friends!! I am so sorry for the lack of posts this week! The holiday weekend has me all thrown off and I completely forgot about Things I'm Loving Tuesday. Don't worry, I have a lot of great things to share with you next week :)

Last Monday, I was having a simply rotten day, so Dakota suggested taking a trip up to North Carolina to see some friends and just get away for a few days. I am SO glad he did because it was exactly what I needed to recharge and clear my mind.

We originally planned to vlog our trip but I totally forgot to film once we actually got there! :( We're going back up in October for our school's homecoming so I promise to do a better job next time.

For those who want to watch the five minutes we did film... you can check it out here!

Dakota was sweet enough to drive the entire way and let me sleep for most of the ride. He also treated me to Pumpkin Munchins from Dunkin Donuts for breakfast so I was one happy wifey!

Once we arrived in NC, we were immediately welcomed with cool, fall weather and instantly missed our former home. We picked up some hibachi for lunch (because we have YET to find good Japanese food in Florida) and headed to our friends Josh and Tracy's house! They were so sweet to let us stay with them on such short notice. We absolutely love spending time with them and hanging out with their three kids.

We spent most of Saturday just hanging out and catching up. After dinner we went to our FAVORITE ice cream shop, Sunni Sky's! If you've never been to Sunni Sky's, you definitely should. Not only is it insanely cheap, but it is hands down the best ice cream you will ever have in your entire life. Trust me on this one. My personal go-to mouth-watering combo is Apple Pie and Oatmeal Cookie. Though, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Brownie Batter was my favorite for two years before I made the switch. Sunni Sky's also makes amazing Pumpkin Pies out of ice cream and they are perfect for fall get-togethers or Thanksgiving!

On Sunday, we went to the church we attended while at Campbell and enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces. Afterwards, we headed to Bojangles because that is the only acceptable Southern post-church meal. While waiting for my food, Dakota told me to look up and I saw my very best friend standing beside me! I was SO excited to see Emily (even though I had a suspicion she was going to show up) and so very thankful that her and Kurt drove three hours just to spend the day with us. I have missed her so so much and life just isn't the same without her.

After eating, Emily and I headed off to Holly Springs to do some shopping while the boys went to golf. In typical fashion, we sat in the nail polish aisle for about 15 minutes just discussing our favorite shades and catching up on life. I can't even tell you how much I love Emily and our friendship!

Sunday night, I went out to dinner with a few of my sorority sisters and it was so great to catch up with them and hear about the great things SAO is doing at Campbell! Oh, what I wouldn't give to relive those college days, Unfortunately, I sometimes forget that I'm a blogger and completely forget about taking pictures :(

Monday, we got up and hung out at the house for a little while before having lunch with our friends Stegall and Rudi. After that, we hit the road to head back to Florida to pick up our sweet little pups.

Overall, we had such a great weekend and I'm so glad we were able to make the trip. North Carolina truly is our home and we were so sad to leave!

I hope you all had a fabulous Labor Day weekend filled with friends, family, and laughter!
