Happy Wednesday!! I hope everyone had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!! We had the best time in North Carolina seeing some old friends and I was so thankful for the long break :)
My Due Date: Still September 20th (even though my mother's intuition thinks this baby boy will make his appearance early)!
What fruit is the baby this week? Denver is now the size of a garden eggplant or a cantaloupe! He is growing bigger and stronger each and every day. He is now just about a foot long and weighs between a pound and a pound and a half :)
Cloth or Disposable Diapers? I have debated this one for quite a while! I originally wanted to do cloth diapers but after seeing the poor little boy in the nursery soak his clothes every single week, I have changed my mind. I think we will still implement cloth diapers when just at home but also
use disposable diapers for when we go out in public. I've also heard cloth diapers make the best burp cloths so we will definitely have some on hand for multiple reasons :)
Breastfeeding or Formula? Every day I hope and pray that we will be able to breastfeed for about the first year. If not, we will definitely adjust but we will be sure to give it our best try before giving up!
Where will the baby sleep? Yall, some moms have told me I am crazy or "wished me luck" with this but as of now, our plan is to have Denver sleeping in his crib almost immediately. Our bed isn't an option since Dakota is a very deep/somewhat violent sleeper (I'm talking flailing arms all night long) and I know I wouldn't ever get a good night's rest because I would be so concerned and aware that there was a baby in the bed. I think the hardest part about putting him in his crib will be having a peace of mind that everything is ok but we're going to give it a shot and see how it works for us!
How many kids total do we want? Some think we're crazy for this as well but we want 4 children total, God-willing :) We have discussed adopting and I'm not sure where that would come in but we know we want a large family with lots of babies!
Belly button in or out? For now it is still in but it is definitely getting more and more shallow each week :( I think it'll be popping out before the third trimester rolls around...
Movement: We now have the biggest wiggle worm on our hands! This boy loves to move about and kick throughout most of the day. His sweet kicks are getting stronger with each week and I'm slightly worried they'll eventually get somewhat painful because he loves to kick near my ribs! I'm so thankful for his constant reminders that he is growing and getting stronger every day (though hopefully he won't end up as a 10 pounder like his daddy)!
Type of birth? This is another topic that gets the eyes rolling and snarky comments flying! As of now, I am planning to have a fully natural birth. We are looking into hiring a doula and we start a hypnobirthing class in July! I have nothing against those who chose to use medication for pain management but I have always imagined having a natural birth so that is the route we're hoping for. If all the women of the Bible can do it, so can I! This may also very well change once I am in the moment but I'm excited to prepare my mind and body to go the natural route. We are praying that I won't have to be induced or have a C-section for any reason but regardless, we know God has already written the most beautiful birth story for our baby boy.
Overall, this pregnancy really hasn't been that bad! Some days are definitely worse than others when I wish I could just have a glass of wine and get out of bed without needing help but for the most part, I can't complain. The aches and swelling have been the worst things I am experiencing so I would say it could definitely be worse. We're just so thankful for a healthy baby boy that will be joining us in a short 16 or so weeks :) As we approach our due date, I'll be doing more fun giveaways for guessing his weight/height, exact birth day, and hair color so stay tuned!!
PS- I finally bought new sandals to get my poor swollen toes through this hot Florida summer! :)
